Vans are not exactly what you call sleek and sexy. And while the sport van is nothing new, Volkswagen has just released official pictures and details of their British-only Transporter Sportline. Featuring a sleek, yet restrained body kit, other exterior additions include chrome-trimmed headlights, a glossy black grille, and smoked taillights. It rides on 18-inch five-spoke wheels that are offered in either silver or satin black.

Three body colors are offered: silver, black (as shown in these pictures), or white with a gloss-black roof. Inside, the interior has two-tone leather, a nav unit with a seven-inch touch screen, rear parking sensors, and Bluetooth. Power comes from a 178hp, 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder that's mated to either a six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. Performance is not outstanding, but it does reportedly go from 0 to 62 mph in a little over 10 seconds, which isn't bad for a van of this size.

The Sportline is available in either short or long-wheelbase versions along with panel or passenger "kombi" bodywork. Converting to U.S. pricing at current exchange rates, the short-wheel base panel van starts at almost $54,000.
