While a new replacement is in store for the Beetle, VW has released 1500 New Beetle convertibles in special commemorative livery. The 2010 New Beetle convertible will come in Aquarius Blue over Campanella White with a matching white top and leather interior. The special final edition also gets an individually numbered exterior plague and will ride on Sport suspensions with five spoke 17-inch wheels.

The 2010 convertible will still have only a single engine: a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Available safety features include ABS, traction control. Antiskid system, and front-side airbags. Being a convertible, it will also have rollover bars that deploy if sensors detect an imminent tip. Coming standard on the 2010 New Beetle convertible are heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
