After revealing the 2024 EX90, a new three-row electric luxury SUV, Volvo is not ready to pause its electrified product onslaught. At the debut event for the EX90, Volvo teased a smaller model called the EX30. Now, thanks to our CarBuzz sleuths, we can reveal that Volvo may have yet another EV up its sleeve. Volvo recently filed a trademark for the name "C60" with the USPTO on December 14, 2022.

The application was filed under the Goods and Services category for: Land motor vehicles, namely, automobiles and their engines; body structural parts; exterior insignia badges for vehicles; vehicle rooftop carriers, namely, automobile roof racks; spare tire covers; fitted motor vehicle covers; running boards for motor vehicles; mud flaps for motor vehicles; hitch plugs for motor vehicles, namely, trailer hitches; sunshades and license plate frames for motor vehicles; windshields for motor vehicles; windows for motor vehicles; wheels for motor vehicles; hub caps for motor vehicle wheels.

If Volvo's current naming scheme is anything to go off of, the C60 will likely be a coupe version of the 2023 Volvo XC60 Recharge. The "C" prefix used to be mean a coupe, convertible, or hatchback, like the C30 and C70, but has most recently been used on the Volvo C40 Recharge, a coupe version of the XC40. Anyone hoping for a new electric Volvo sports car will likely be disappointed.

The XC60 is already one of the smaller crossovers in its segment, so cutting the roofline to further reduce trunk space seems like an odd move. Perhaps the next-generation XC60 will grow in size in order to close the massive gap between it and the EX90.

The C60 would likely compete against the BMW X4, which expected to go electric in its next generation. Volvo will build a second EV alongside the EX90 at its South Carolina plant; this could be the C60. Any specific details about the C60's drivetrain are purely speculative at this point, but we imagine it will use a battery that's somewhere between the C40's 78 kWh battery and the EX90's 111 kWh pack. Horsepower will likely be somewhere in the middle too, ranging between 402 and 496 hp.

We'll report any new details as they emerge.
