New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin has been signed by Volvo Cars to become the their brand ambassador. In a statement, Volvo said that Lin "is expected to help in the marketing efforts of Volvo in several international markets and help establish the brand with younger and performance-oriented customers." He will become the focus of an ad campaign for the Chinese market, and play a role in Volvo's various corporate and marketing activities over the next two years.

Lin, the first Chinese-American to play in the NBA, will air in his first TV commercial for Volvo following the end of the current season. "Growing up, I never had the super luxurious cars or watches," Lin is quoted as saying by Bloomberg. "Being able to find a car company that has high quality but is also affordable and relatable was very important to me." The Harvard grad currently resides in NYC and doesn't own a car. Volvo, renowned as the reliable Swedish automaker, is in fact now owned by Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
