Volvo has collaborated with Bowers & Wilkins to create a premium sound system for the EX90, its newest electric SUV revealed last year. The Swedish automaker said that the audio system is designed to create an immersive, high-resolution audio experience inside with what's boasted as the quietest Volvo cabin yet.

To achieve this, Volvo placed a total of 25 speakers all over the cabin, optimally positioned for a more realistic surround sound. The speakers are also integrated into the dashboard, doors, headlining, rear-wheel housing, and headrests of the front-row seats.

Of course, the speakers are seamlessly integrated into the cabin design, which was initially touted to have interior lighting that replicates the sun. They come with custom double-etched and brushed stainless steel speaker grilles housed in backlit wood paneling. The said housing is beneficial to producing the best possible sound quality without compromising the premium design details.

"For the new Volvo EX90, Bowers & Wilkins was a natural and obvious choice as the partner for our premium audio system. Its highly acclaimed approach to sound exudes quality and complements our design language seamlessly," says Jorge Furuya, Volvo's head of car UX.

The 1610W Bowers & Wilkins system in the EX90 aims to deliver music just as the artists intend to, thanks to the studio-derived loudspeaker technology, which Bowers & Wilkins calls "True Sound." Additionally, listeners can choose their own sound experience with listening modes, namely Studio, Individual Stage, and Concert Hall modes.

Moreover, the Bowers & Wilkins system in the EX90 supports Dolby Atmos. The surround sound technology creates a three-dimensional sound field that provides a more realistic and richer listening experience.

Sadly, you won't be able to own a new EX90 soon if you haven't placed an order already. The fully electric SUV met high demand, resulting in the temporary closure of its order books last April. Volvo has not yet revealed when it plans to re-open the order books for the EX90.

The Geely-owned automaker plans to begin production of the EX90 in the final business quarter of this year at two locations, Charleston, South Carolina, and Chengdu, China. Exact pricing hasn't been revealed yet, but Volvo said the well-specced EX90 will be offered at under $80,000.
