Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles gets in on the Worthersee action with this customized Amarok truck concept.
The GTI-Treffen in Worthersee, Austria, has long since grown from a gathering of Volkswagen performance enthusiasts to encompass the whole group. (Well, not Porsche, Bugatti, Bentley or Lamborghini, but the more mass-market brands, anyway.) And that includes Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which will be coming to the lakeside venue this year with a modified Amarok pickup concept. The Amarok R-Style concept packs a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 with 268 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.
Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive, the upgraded diesel is said to be enough to propel the concept truck to 62 in 7.9 seconds. The concept truck will also pack wider fenders, a carbon-fiber aero kit, LED lighting, darkened 22-inch wheels wearing low-profile rubber and an interior fitted with racing buckets and other bespoke touches to make this Amarok stand out from the rest of the Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge commercial range.
