The 2012 Volkswagen is being released by the German automaker with a complete update, a GTI engine, and crisper looks. This shiny convertible has been treated to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the Golf GTI, and is slated to produce 208 horsepower. The engine is also available with either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission. Overseas, customers can also specify the 138-horsepower 2.0-liter diesel.

Some updates to the vehicle include a Hill Start Assist that'll be coming standard in 2012, along with Vienna leather upholstery, heated seats, 17-inch wheels and some sheetmetal enhancements. Unfortunately, these details have only been announced for foreign markets at the time being. We'll have to have wait and see what VW of America will announce.
