With the all-new seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf having just debuted in European, aftermarket tuning firms are beginning to put the last touches on the outgoing model before getting their hands on VW's latest. Although US buyers won't be able to buy the new Golf until it goes on sale in well over a year from now in the States, speed enthusiasts can still order the Golf R, the most powerful version of the sixth-gen model. But if the stock Golf R still isn't good enough, then German tuning outfit SchwabenFolia may have the answer.

By tinkering with the car's guts, power has been increased by an additional 60 ponies for a new total of 330 horsepower, up from 270 hp. This feat was accomplished by upgrading the 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine via a new handmade exhaust system which the tuners call the "Atomic Warbird". Also added to the package is an adaptive electric chassis control and 19-inch wheels. Wrapped in "urban taupe matte metallic", the final product is a wonderful example of the many improvements that can be made to one of the finest hot hatches on the market.
