Volkswagen's R GmbH division serves two purposes. One is to transform ordinary VWs into performance models, and the other is to give them a sportier look without the engine mods. So after releasing R-Line packages for the Golf, Polo, Touareg and others, the R division has now debuted an R-Line kit for the Tiguan crossover. Based on the top-of-the-line SE trim, the Tiguan R-Line adds features such as bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch alloys inside black wheel arch extensions, unique front and rear bumpers and a rear spoiler.

The interior also receives modest upgrades such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminum inlay and stainless steel pedals. The R-Line Tiguan can be ordered with either a 207-horsepower 2.0-liter TSI or a 2.0-liter TDI in 138- or 168-horsepower specs. All three engines are mated to VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive system and a six-speed manual transmission. For now, the Tiguan R-Line has only been announced for the UK with deliveries set to begin in January. No word if VW has plans to offer it Stateside, but if previous R-Line packages are any indication, chances are slim.
