Three rows and “emotional” styling will help the company reach 800,000 annual sales, says vice president.
Volkswagen has continuously been very skimpy regarding details of its upcoming large crossover, currently nicknamed the “B SUV”. But speaking to Automobile, the company’s vice president of product planning said that the next big thing from VW would set an “awesome benchmark” for the entire crossover segment. He promised that the model would be a “true Volkswagen”, combining innovation, emotion, quality and design to conquer the US market.
VW hopes to reach a new sales high in the coming years, with the upcoming SUV playing an important role in their 800,000 unit-per-year target. Company execs hope that the crossover, which will be manufactured in North America, will help the company expand its current customer demographic. The crossover will be launched in 2016, joining a host of new models from the company.
