Say goodbye to the longest produced model in automotive history.

As the longest produced model in automotive history, it’s with a heavy heart VW has announced the Kombi will be no more; its structure and characteristics being deemed unsafe according to new legislation being introduced next year in Brazil. To mark 56 years of continuous production in Brazil finally coming to an end, Volkswagen is launching the Kombi Last Edition. Only 600 examples will be built, wearing a special two-tone blue and white paint job.

Each model will be fitted with a numbered identification plaque from 001 to 600 on the dashboard. Other special exterior design features include whitewall tires, white center wheel caps and tinted rear windows that give a nod to previous editions of the longstanding model. Decals on the side mark this out as a special series: ’56 anos - Kombi Last Edition.’ Inside, VW has fitted blue fabric curtains with fasteners bearing the Kombi logo, vinyl upholstery matching the body colors, an instrument cluster boasting special serigraph treatment and an MP3 sound system with iPod compatibility.
