If you're looking for a new German crossover, don't head to Germany. No, Shanghai is the place you want to be this weekend, where Mercedes-Benz, BMW and now Volkswagen have announced they will launch their new crossover concepts. Joining the GLA and X4 concepts on the floor of the Shanghai Auto Show will be the Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe. Now if the name sounds familiar, that's because VW unveiled a concept crossover with a similar name (sans the Coupe part) at the Detroit Auto Show.

That was a large seven-seater, but what we have here is (like the aforementioned Mercedes and BMW concepts) a decidedly more compact affair. Expected to preview the next-generation Tiguan, this concept packs a powerful hybrid powertrain that pairs a turbocharged V6 with a pair of electric motors to produce a substantial 415 horsepower. That's about all we've got to accompany these preview renderings at the moment, but watch this space as VW is sure to reveal more in the coming days.
