While he suffered a broken leg, authorities expect him to survive the traumatic ordeal.

A Pennsylvania man was injured after crashing and rolling his Toyota Camry at a car wash in the town of Colmar.

6 ABC Action News reports the 77-year-old driver visited Wave Car Wash to clean his vehicle when, suddenly, the Japanese sedan accelerated through the gate and flipped over inside the facility. According to officials, the man attempted to pay when he hit the accelerator pedal, sending the car careening into the structure before rolling over on its side.

To make matters worse, the driver's side door was open at the time of the incident, heightening the risk of serious injury. Rescuers worked for 90 minutes to extract the trapped driver. Luckily, he escaped with only a broken leg and is expected to survive the crash.

Security footage (shown above) captured the incident on camera and shows the Camry smashing into the car wash structure, likely causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. It's safe to assume the silver Toyota will be totaled, as rescue workers had to cut the roof off to free the driver.

Wave Car Wash owner Darin Kapanjie discussed the impact this would have on his small business but emphasized how relieved he is that no one was hurt. "We are relieved that nobody was seriously injured," he said.

Kapanjie added, "We have an amazing customer base that is committed to us as much as we are committed to them. We also have an amazing staff, a great support team, and great connections in this amazing industry. We'll get through it together and end up on top. Again, we're just so happy nobody was seriously injured.

Customer Bill Ashmead witnessed the crash and told the publication that he "can't even imagine the process of having a car turn over inside a car wash. I don't think it's ever happened before."

This isn't the first time we've seen a mishap occur at a car wash. In 2021, an unfortunate car wash employee crashed a Ferrari 812 Superfast belonging to football star Federico Marchetti. Thankfully no one was injured, but the supercar suffered some severe damage. Three years before that, a similar accident took place in China when a worker wrecked a Tesla Model X after it was cleaned.

2023 may have just begun, but already, this is the second bizarre accident we've encountered. Recently, a family of four was involved in a crash that saw their Tesla Model Y plummet 250 feet off a cliff. Miraculously, everyone survived.
