In stock form, the Audi R8 V10 Plus produces 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque from its 5.2-liter V10, enabling it to reach a top speed of 205 mph. If you thought that was impressive, tuning firm Underground Racing has set a new half mile world record for the model with its modified R8. Using a 2017 R8 with the aftermarket firm's X Version twin-turbo system installed, Underground Racing claims its record-setting R8 produces an astonishing 2,500-hp at the wheels when running on high octane race gas.

To showcase its mind-boggling performance, driver Mohammad from Drag965 blitzed the half mile run at the Wannagofast NC Half Mile Shootout, reaching a speed of 244.8 mph which set a new world record for the R8. At the quarter mile, it achieved 187.6 mph which is equally impressive. Underground Racing even claims this tire torturing beast is street legal.

When running on 93 octane fuel for the road, it's still capable of producing 1,200-hp at the wheels according to Underground Racing. After giving the car a high-speed workout at the drag strip, the car still serves as a comfortable cruiser for the drive home. It's incredible to think that the speed the R8 achieved in half a mile is more than the top speed of most production supercars. You can watch the R8's record run in the video, where you can hear the glorious sound of car's whining turbos. The speed is so extreme, you can see the driver experience a violent jolt during every gear change.

No price has been listed for Underground Racing's X Version R8 package, but considering the firm's stage 3 turbo kit, which upgrades the coupe to 1,000-hp on pump gas and 1,250-hp on racing fuel, costs $99,000, you know it isn't cheap.
