Watch A BMW M5 CS Destroy A Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye In Drag Races

The Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye gets massacred by the BMW M5 CS.

The BMW M5 CS and Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye are two of the most insanely powerful sedans on the market. Each model offers unprecedented performance with room for two extra passengers to come along for the ride. To find out which is faster, the two four-door super sedans went head-to-head in a series of drag races.

Thanks to its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 627 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, the M5 CS is the most powerful production car BMW has ever made. All that power is sent to a rear-biased M xDrive AWD system through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A healthy diet of carbon fiber also makes it 230 pounds lighter than the M5 Competition.

As a result, 0-60 mph takes just 2.9 seconds before the M5 CS maxes out at 190 mph. The performance enhancements and exclusivity come at a steep cost, however. At $142,000, the M5 CS costs around $30,000 more than the M5 Competition.

Starting at $78,595, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat costs nearly half of what the M5 CS retails for. It's also considerably more powerful than the M5 CS, with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 sending 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. With a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.6 seconds, it's slower off the line than the M5 CS, but has a higher top speed of 203 mph.

While the M5 CS has less power, it has the advantage of AWD and is also lighter with a curb weight of 4,114 pounds compared to the 4,610-pound Charger Redeye. In the first race, the M5 CS's lighter weight and superior traction enable it to launch like a rocket and leave the Charger Redeye in its dust. The Charger Redeye was massacred by the M5 CS and looked like it was standing still.

To give the Charger Redeye a chance at victory, the M5 CS was switched to RWD mode and launch control was disabled in the second race. Despite this, the Charger Redeye still couldn't defeat the M5 CS, but the gap is a lot closer. For the final round, both super sedans take part in a rolling drag race - has the M5 CS finally met its match? You'll have to watch the video to find out.
