Watch A Father And Son Illegally Drag Race And Crash A Corvette

Video / Comments

Not exactly the ideal bonding experience.

Just when you thought people couldn't get any more stupid something like this happens. And when we say stupid we mean a driver posting on Instagram their illegal drag race through New York City's Lincoln Tunnel. This actually happened.

According to the New York Daily News, Chad Quinones of Hewitt, New Jersey was arrested earlier this week after posting dashcam footage to Instagram of a crash he caused while illegally drag racing his Corvette in the Lincoln Tunnel, which connects Manhattan to New Jersey under the Hudson River, last February. That footage quickly went viral. The police watched it as well and launched an investigation.

Here's what they uncovered: Quinones, 25, and his father, Fred Ordine, 44, drag raced a pair of Corvettes through the tunnel's Manhattan-bound tube, neck-and-neck most of the time, until Quinones lost control and crashed.

He crashed into another car on his left, then bounced off the wall on his right, hit another vehicle, and finally spun out. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Quinones initially fled the scene but came back an hour and a half later. He was charged for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to exhibit registration and careless driving.

Jump ahead to earlier this month when Quinones, in his infinite wisdom, posted the footage to his Instagram page. Quinones took the video down from his page when police questioned him about it, but it was already too late; it had since been reposted to other accounts for all the world to see. Police re-opened the investigation and soon arrested father and son, charging them both with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and an illegal speed contest.

The pair are now awaiting arraignment in a Manhattan criminal court. No word on the status of the damaged Corvette, which appears to be a C4 generation model. Ordine drove a C6.
