The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 may have stolen the spotlight, but the regular C8 Stingray can still hold its own. With a 6.2-liter V8 pumping out 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque and a starting price of just over $60,000, the Corvette Stingray offers supercar performance for sports car money. With the Z51 package installed, the Stingray will rocket from 0-60 mph in under three seconds, cross the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds, and top out at 194 mph.

As we've seen before, these specs enable the Stingray to accelerate faster than considerably more powerful cars like the Shelby GT500 and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. But what happens when the Corvette C8 Stingray is pitted against a high-performance pickup?

No, this isn't a drag race between a Corvette C8 and a Ram 1500 TRX. In the video, we get to see the Corvette race a 2020 Ford F-150 at the Byron Dragway in Illinois. Except this is no ordinary Ford F-150. On the outside, this F-150 owned by Chris Mayer features Ford's STX appearance package but otherwise looks stock.

However, under the hood is a Roush supercharger that boosts the F-150's 5.0-liter V8 from 395hp and 400 lb-f torque to 650 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque. This gives the F-150 a huge 155-hp power advantage, but we suspect the Corvette driver was still feeling confident.

After all, the C8 Corvette is over 2,000 pounds lighter than the truck, so this should have been an easy victory. Unfortunately, this was a disastrous drag race for the Corvette driver, who appears to be asleep at the wheel.

A slower reaction time from the Corvette driver allowed the F-150 to rocket ahead and take the lead. The Corvette nearly catches up, but it's no match for the high-performance pickup, which blitzed the quarter-mile in 11.85 seconds at 112.91 mph. The Corvette could only post a time of 12.60 seconds at 112.66 mph.

It's an embarrassing defeat for the C8 Stingray, but if the Corvette driver had been more alert the result would have probably been very different. Nevertheless, the modified F-150's performance is still very impressive for a full-size pickup.
