Watch A Modified Viper And Hellcat Duke It Out On The Drag Strip

This battle between two American sports car legends looks too close to call.

Normally, pitting a Viper against a Challenger SRT Hellcat in a drag race would be a forgone conclusion. The supercharged Hellcat would humiliate its naturally-aspirated rival thanks to the 6.2-liter V8 under the hood delivering 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, while the 8.4-liter V10 Viper has 645 hp on tap and 600 lb-ft of torque. In this case, however, the two Dodges have been spiced up to make them more evenly matched. What you’re seeing here is a modified Viper and Hellcat duking it out on the drag strip.

In the battle between two American sports car legends, the Hellcat owner boosted the Challenger’s output to 825 hp which nearly puts it in Dodge Demon territory. The Viper, on the other hand, has been fitted with a twin turbo kit resulting in 950 horses to play with. Both cars are also wearing drag radials to apply all that extra power to the tarmac.

In theory, the Viper is the clear winner in terms of raw power, but the result looks too close to call, with the two cars finishing with only five hundredths of a second between them. However, the result showed that one car finished 10 mph quicker than the other, though reaction time is also a factor here. You’ll have to watch the video to find out which souped-up car won.
