Monster Jam driver, Linsey Read, challenged Porsche racer Leh Keen to a duel. Read brought her Monster Jam Monster Truck, and Keen turned up in a 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. The race occurred in the NRG Stadium in Texas, though it's not entirely clear who won.

The Monster Truck jumped over the Taycan, which is the ultimate power move, so we're guessing Read won; in Monster Jam, you are awarded points for flamboyance. The Taycan pulled some epic drifts and donuts but avoided jumping and naturally avoided getting too close to the monster truck, which dwarfs Porsche's EV by some margin.

But despite their differences, the two cars do have some things in common. Both have permanent four-wheel-drive, four-wheel steering, and two-speed transmission and are equally fast off the line.

In every other department, the two cars are polar opposites. The Taycan Cross Turismo has a dual-motor setup producing 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque. The Monster Truck has a 9.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces 1,500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

The Monster Truck may have double the power, but the Porsche has the upper hand regarding power to weight. The Porker has one horsepower for every 6.9 pounds, while the Truck has eight pounds per hp.

In every other department, the Monster Truck is, well, larger. The wheels on the Truck are 66 x 43 inches and weigh 645 pounds each; Porsche has a 28 x 10-inch tire on a 20-inch alloy. Oddly, the Monster Truck only has a four-piston fixed caliper braking setup front and rear, while the Porsche has a 10-piston caliper in the front and a four-piston at the rear. More importantly, the calipers grab hold of carbon-ceramic rotors.

While there's no clear winner and this is just a publicity stunt to drum up some support for the 2023 Taycan, which recently received minor upgrades and a software upgrade resulting in an increased range, the battle is still thrilling to behold.

"It was like I was racing against a building," remarked Leh Keen of his display against the Monster Jam truck. "The size of the Monster Jam truck is staggering - it looks like it's hardly trying, but I glanced down, and we're approaching three-figure speeds, inside a stadium, on dirt."

"I have to be honest, most of the time, I couldn't see Leh," said Read. "He had to weave around me, so I had to trust he was staying well away. But from the reactions, I'd say he did amazingly well to stay close to me - that Taycan can really shift! Driving a Monster Jam truck is a complete adrenaline rush - and it can really fly, which I was thankful for when I flew over Leh."
