It's a clash of the titans.
Not content with seeing the Ram TRX decimate the Ford F-150 Raptor, the people at Shelby decided to supercharge the Blue Oval's workhorse to help it produce a frankly ludicrous 770 horsepower. The result is the Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport, and this is a pickup like no other. Compared to the Ram TRX, with its Hellcat engine that produces 702 hp, the lighter and more powerful Shelby seems like a formidable opponent. We've seen the regular F-150 Raptor go up against the TRX before, and the TRX's launch control helps it get off the line insanely quickly, but how do things fare when it has the Shelby model to contend with?
Despite a strong launch, the additional power coupled with the weight deficit of the Shelby Super Snake Sport makes this a race that the Ford F-150 can win every day of the week. The pain is compounded for the TRX driver when a rolling race takes place, but then again, that wasn't much of a surprise to anyone following the TRX's loss from a dig. But, as the reviewers in the video point out, the interior of the Shelby F-150 is absolutely appalling, and what makes it worse is the pickup's absurd price. You'd think that they could have at least used real carbon fiber for the trim panels.
So which would you have? Would you rather have the most powerful and lightest option, an option that is all but guaranteed to win races on the street, or would you rather have a comfortable, spacious, practical, and beautifully appointed TRX that is insane on all terrain and still capable of putting the hurt on sports cars at the lights? For us, the Ram TRX seems like so much more for the money. Still, there's no denying that the Shelby would be a pretty cool modern-day alternative to Brian's daily driver in The Fast & The Furious...
