Bugatti has made it abundantly clear that the upcoming Chiron Pur Sport will be the most agile Bugatti yet. After a couple of weeks under lockdown, the Bugatti team shared their testing process when the Chiron Pur Sport tore up the Bilster Berg circuit in Germany. But that track had "only" nine right turns and 10 left ones and this Bugatti is clearly up for a bigger challenge.

So, how about the Nurburgring with its 40 right bends and 33 left ones, not to mention its length of nearly 13 miles? Perfect. This is exactly the latest testing location chosen by the Bugatti team for the Chiron Pur Sport's final handling tests. After this, the final settings for the dampers, steering, and ESC will be completed.

"It's extremely important to us for the Chiron Pur Sport customer to instantly sense the much more radical approach we're taking with this car in terms of driving dynamics," said Bugatti's Head of Development, Stefan Ellrott. The testers assessed not only the Pur Sport's performance on the demanding circuit, but also its day-to-day abilities on the public roads surrounding the Nurburgring and on the motorways.

"The vehicle has to be extremely precise and predictable, but also easy to drive in the usual Bugatti manner - whether on tracks or public roads," said Jachin Schwalbe, who heads up chassis development.

Despite the intense focus on dynamics, don't think for a second that the Chiron Pur Sport isn't still a beast in a straight line. Its 8.0-liter 1,479-horsepower W16 quad-turbo engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the combination should ensure dramatic acceleration. It will hit a top speed of 218 mph, which is tame in Bugatti's world but not anywhere else.

Production of the Pur Sport is expected to begin in the second half of this year and only 60 examples will be made. In the US, it will carry a monster price tag of $3,599,000. We'll know soon if the Chiron Pur Sport lives up to that price and Bugatti's bold claims about this much more dynamic super car.
