Both the Audi e-tron GT and Sportback concepts will feature in Avengers: Endgame.
With Avengers: Endgame hitting US theaters on April 26, promotional campaigns for the much-anticipated superhero flick are shifting into high gear. Once again, Audi is teaming up with Marvel Studios to promote its cars in the film after the new A8 flagship sedan starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
We’ll get to see Tony Stark trade his Audi R8 for the all-electric Audi e-tron GT concept, and the German automaker has confirmed the all-electric Audi e-tron Sportback concept will also make an appearance in the film. It’s still not clear what role they will play in the film and neither vehicle has featured in any of the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, so we’ll have to wait and see if they get used in any action scenes. Additionally, multiple Audi vehicles will feature at the Avengers: Endgame Hollywood premiere.
To promote Audi’s partnership with Marvel, the automaker has released a humorous new short film starring Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and the electric e-tron SUV. In the video, dubbed ‘The Debriefing’, Captain Marvel returns to Earth after years away. A government agent recaps everything she’s missed, including advances in the war on gluten, technology and the formation of the Avengers.
She’s then introduced to the Audi e-tron, which she charges up instantly using her advanced superpowers. Once she gets behind the wheel, she also gets reminded that "speed limits are still a thing” since Audi obviously doesn't want to encourage dangerous driving in a promotional campaign.
"Since Tony Stark introduced the world to the iconic Audi R8 in 2008, Marvel fans have really embraced the brand. We’re eager to introduce them now to the all-electric Audi e-tron SUV and expect an equally strong fan reaction to Tony Stark’s new supercar the all-electric Audi e-tron GT concept,” said Loren Angelo, vice president of Marketing, Audi of America.
"Each collaboration with Marvel Studios and Audi has brought something new to the table, " said Mindy Hamilton, senior vice president of Global Partnerships, Marvel. "This time, it’s bringing the most powerful Super Hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel, into the storytelling and we couldn’t be more excited to see fans watch this story unfold.”
