It's not as easy as he makes it look.
If you've ever had the privilege to sit in or, better yet, drive a Lamborghini Countach, you probably noticed that rear visibility is mostly non-existent. Of course there's a rear view mirror but that doesn't help much when there's a near complete lack of rear glass. So how does one go about reverse parking a Countach? It's not like backup cameras existed during the Countach's reign. Top Gear co-host Chris Harris, who's apparently still working with /Drive on NBC Sports, shows Mike Spinelli how to reverse park a 1985 Lamborghini Countach QV.
Given the fact this car is worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000 and it's, uh, a Countach, you're going to want to be careful not to bump into anything. Curbs are a problem in particular for the Countach's exceedingly low ride height.
But there is a method to the madness. It involves keeping the driver's side scissor door open and physically resting one ass cheek on the bottom of the door section, put it into reverse, use the engine's torque, no throttle and back her right on in. It's that simple, or at least Harris makes it seem that way. And yes, both Harris and Spinelli look borderline ridiculous in their best 80s Miami Vice style garb. The show itself will air tonight, October 19 on NBC Sports.
