Top Gear has come a long way since Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May left the popular motoring show to host The Grand Tour on Amazon. Since new hosts Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff joined Chris Harris for the 27th season last year, the show has been given a new lease of life. Fans of the show seem to love the new presenting trio, and soon they'll be back on our screens for a new season. An action-packed teaser trailer has been released for Top Gear season 29 to give us an idea of what to expect.

One of the undisputed highlights will be watching Chris Harris tearing up the track in a Ferrari SF90 Stradale. Judging from his reaction to the car's performance in the trailer, it's safe to say he's smitten with the 986-hp hybrid supercar. We also get a brief glimpse of Chris getting sideways in an Audi RS6 Avant.

No Top Gear season will be complete without some crazy challenges for our entertainment, either. In the last season, we watched in fear as Flintoff bravely bungee jumped off a dam in a car, but the new season will feature one of the show's most daring stunts yet with the presenters driving around a wall of death in old insurance write-offs. Paddy looks genuinely scared for his life. There's also an electric car race around a theme park, a race down a ski slope in Cyprus using rental cars, and a series of challenges to test a custom-built, all-terrain ice cream van.

As well as showcasing new models, the new season also features a comparison between three legendary supercars from the 1990s: the Ferrari F40, Jaguar XJ220, and Lamborghini Diablo.

As we already know, the challenge didn't go well, as Paddy loses control of the Diablo and crashes into a fence. We get to see the aftermath of the crash as the damaged Diablo is driven away on the back of a truck, but we'll have to wait until the episode airs to find out exactly what happened.

Top Gear episodes are filmed with a live studio audience, but the global pandemic made it impossible to film the show in its usual format. For the new season, the Top Gear studio was turned into a drive-in theater with audience members watching the show from the socially-distanced safety of their cars.

There's no air date yet, but Top Gear season 29 will likely air in the UK later this month. US viewers will have to wait a little longer, as season 28, which features Chris Harris racing a jet fighter in a McLaren Speedtail, is currently airing on BBC America.
