Genesis chose the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed to introduce the Electrified GV70, which is the brand's third all-electric model. It follows hot on the heels of the GV60 and the Electrified G80 luxury sedan.

The Electrified GV70 is based on the brand's claimed state-of-the-art electrical architecture. According to Genesis, the platform "delivers exceptional driving performance, an impressive range, and state-of-the-art charging flexibility."

Genesis first introduced the Electrified GV70 late last year, along with a promise that all its models would be EV or hydrogen-powered by 2025. We also learned that it can produce up to 483 horsepower in Boost Mode.

Unfortunately, Genesis chose not to show what the Electrified GV70 is capable of as the Goodwood display was static.

It wasn't an entire loss, however. Instead of showing how quickly it could get up the hill, Genesis chose to showcase the usefulness of the car's vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology. Like the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Electrified GV70 can power external devices and Genesis produced videos showing the GV70 helping out around the Goodwood Estate.

The V2L technology uses the car's battery to provide auxiliary power to devices with an output of 220 volts or 3.6 kilowatts. Think of the Electrified GV70 as the most expensive battery bank you've ever come across. But instead of charging a smartphone, it can charge garden equipment, camping equipment, and even e-bikes and scooters.

"We are delighted to unveil Electrified GV70 for the very first time in Europe at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed," said Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe. "Featuring our cutting-edge electrical architecture and focus on luxurious sustainability, it represents another big step in our commitment to deliver an all-electric line-up of vehicles by 2025. As with our other SUV models, it retains exceptional versatility and usability, as well as unrivaled comfort and driving pleasure. As the third new electric car from Genesis to be launched in Europe in under a year, Electrified GV70 is further evidence of the brand's bold ambitions for the region."

The Electrified GV70 will be built in the US and will likely be introduced to our market in the first half of 2023.
