This is what pure power looks and sounds like.
There for when two axles and four-wheel-drive just aren't enough, the Hennessey Goliath 6x6 is three axles of pure, six-wheel-drive awesomeness. And when that isn't enough? If you're Hennessey Performance Engineering, you strap a 2.9-liter supercharger to the factory 6.2-liter V8, boosting output from its original 450 peak horsepower to a monumental 800. If a third driven axle has ever been necessary to put the power down, it's in a truck like this.
This week, Hennessey featured its 800-horsepower supercharged Goliath 6x6 in a new video, giving us a good look at what the potent monster of a truck looks like in action.
Granted, there's plenty more that defines the Hennessey Goliath 6x6 than just the extra axle. The truck sits substantially taller than the factory Chevrolet Silverado Z71 TrailBoss it's based on, thanks to an eight-inch lift kit, and the extra rear axle necessitates a brand new rear suspension system. The front and rear bumpers are bespoke, made from heavy-duty steel finished in matte black, and even the truck bed is custom, featuring wider wheel cutouts to accommodate the Goliath's duplicate rear axles. The wheels are 20-inch items wrapped in 37-inch BFGoodrich off-road tires.
Off-road is where the Goliath 6x6 truly belongs, of course, but it's enough to see and hear the truck let all 800 horses loose on dry pavement. It sounds ripping.
If it's all enough to make you want to pull the trigger on a Goliath 6x6 of your own, you might want to have a seat; the heavily modified Z71 TrailBoss runs $375,000 and up, including the cost of the donor truck. And that's for a "basic" example without the 2.9L supercharger kit. Needless to say, the blower and supporting equipment will add to the final price.
But if you have the means, and a go-anywhere adventure truck sounds significantly more appealing to you than a fair-weather Italian supercar, Hennessey would like to hear from you.
