Last month, Jay Leno become one of the first people outside of Tesla to drive the Tesla Cybertruck. We even got to see the electric truck squeeze through a Boring Company tunnel under Los Angeles. Turns out this isn't the only Tesla model Leno has taken for a test drive recently, however, as the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage stars the Tesla Model Y.

Leno isn't usually a fan of crossovers but couldn't find anything to criticize about the Model Y after being impressed by its performance, range, interior, and technology, despite recent quality concerns.

In the 30-minute long video, Leno test takes the Performance variant of the Tesla Model Y for a spin, which utilizes a dual-motor system that enables the electric crossover to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 mph while delivering 315 miles on a single charge.

Leno notes this is "faster than most modern sports cars" for a fraction of the price. Leno also praised the Model Y's practicality, as the trunk is spacious enough to fit a canoe or kayak with the rear seats folded down. There's even enough room for someone to sleep in the back, if you need to camp out in your Model Y.

Currently, the Tesla Model Y is only available with two rows and five seats, but Tesla will add a three-row seven-seat version later this year, although leaked photos have shown the third row could have extremely limited rear legroom.

On the road, Leno felt that the Model Y drives like his Model S that he has used as a daily driver for three years but praised the performance, especially as it costs half as much as the Model S. While Tesla is now facing competition in the electric car market from German automakers such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz, Leno believes Tesla has stayed ahead of the competition by offering more power and range than its rivals at a cheaper price
