Everyone loves a good police car case and when there's a Shelby GT500 involved, it immediately grabs our attention. As always, the people over at Motor Trend know how to have a good time. Their latest video features Ford's new 662hp Shelby GT500 evading the 2013 Ford Police Interceptor and 2012 Dodge Charger Pursuit police cars. The 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block engine sitting under the Shelby's hood is the highest-horsepower engine ever produced in the U.S.

Nearly every part of the powertrain has been optimized for producing the additional horsepower, including a new supercharger, new cross-drilled block and heads. As well as an all-forged engine rotating assembly, updated camshaft profiles, upgraded head gaskets, a new carbon fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle.

All of the action in the video takes place on the streets of Motown (Detroit) and with a top speed of more than 200 mph, the GT500 is a fine example of what the fastest car in Ford's arsenal can really do. Anyone looking to have their own 2013 Shelby GT500 to be chased by cops with will not have to wait long. This masterpiece of cutting edge technology combined with amazing performance hits dealerships soon.
