We're used to seeing prototypes of hotly anticipated new cars being put through their paces at the Nurburgring. But sometimes you might see some more unusual cars being driven around the Green Hell. During public driving periods, anyone can pay to drive a lap, so you never know what you might see. Unsurprisingly, a lot of people use the circuit to show off their sports car or motorcycle. But as you'll see in this video uploaded by Auto Addiction, the weird and wonderful cars can be a common sight at the Green Hell.

Some of the most unusual cars spotted at the Nurburgring include a peculiar Volkswagen Passat wagon modified to look like a boat. There's even a crow's nest on the roof with a stuffed parrot attached to the front. Maybe they were inspired by Top Gear's amphibious car challenge?

We also get to see a couple of Land Rover Defenders tackle the Nurburgring, despite looking like they belong in the Sahara. Another couple decided to take a vintage Jeep for a spin around the challenging circuit, which has no doors, roof, or even a rollbar. The Nurburgring has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous race tracks in the world, so the woman in the passenger seat wisely holds onto the top of the windshield for some extra security.

Motorcycles are also a common sight at the Nurburgring for thrill-seeking riders. We doubt the passenger in the sidecar had a very comfortable ride though, since it kept lifting into the air on every corner. They probably would have preferred to have been stretching their legs inside the stretched Lincoln Town Car - it's not very often you get to see a luxury limo being driven at the limit.
