Could we see the special model by the end of the year?
The brand new BMW M5 has been hotly anticipated for some time, and with its recent reveal, we can't say that there's much to be disappointed about. That is, unless you were hoping for more power from the luxury sports sedan. Well, we've known for a while there would be a CS version of the new M5 thanks to spy shots and previous Nordschleife outings. Well now we have another video of the exciting new model being put through its paces at the Nurburgring and this only whets our appetite further. Take a look at the video below and then decide if it looks fast enough.
The clip is rather short, but it does allow us to hear the car being pushed to the limit, even if the obligatory camouflage over the front and rear sections do a great job of disguising what styling enhancements this special model will have. If the M2 CS and M4 CS are anything to go by, we expect that the M5 CS will feature special tires and new wheels, and there's absolutely no doubt that the interior will be lavishly appointed with plenty of Alcantara. Special seats and possibly even some new tech will likely also make their way to the new model.
As with the current model - which maxes out at 617 horsepower in Competition trim - we will likely see the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 return but with oomph. Expected figures are 641 hp but torque is unlikely to jump much. Nevertheless, regardless of power output, the M5 CS will undoubtedly be even better to drive than its 'regular' sibling and will offer better acceleration and handling abilities. The only issue will likely be price, and if all you care about is power, the brand-new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye will satisfy your cravings and come at a fraction of the cost.
