To celebrate the Ford Mustang's maiden venture into Europe, the carmaker has announced the first 500 orders for the new Stang will be taken during the final of the UEFA Champions League on May 24. "The arrival of the new Ford Mustang in Europe is an event that deserves the biggest possible stage," said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. "We hope that making the first models available to order at the exact moment the Final kicks off will ensure a reach which matches the significance."

So as Europeans watch Christiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Co. attempt to achieve "La Decima" by beating local rivals Athletic Madrid, they will be able to reserve a European-spec 2015 Mustang – available as a coupe in Race Red and as a convertible in Magnetic Silver.

Engine choices are limited to a 309-hp 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-pot and a 426-hp 5.0-liter V8. Ford has been an official partner of the UEFA Champions League since 1992, but will end its sponsorship at the end of the final with Nissan to take over from next season. The final will attract a Europe-wide audience of 70 million with another 165 million expected to tune in from around the world.
