This pickup just looks phenomenal.
When you think of electric cars, you usually think of something used almost exclusively for commuting, but as Elon Musk showed us with the reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck, workhorses are going to need to adapt and become electrified too. However, Musk's Cybertruck has been beaten to the party by the Lordstown Motors Endurance, and we really like the way this truck looks; it's definitely more appealing than the wedge of Tesla's design. The interior of this new Endurance also looks far more ordinary in all the right ways, and now Lordstown has revealed a video showing the innovative truck in action.
The futuristic-looking new truck is something that we can't wait to get our hands on, and the video above makes us all the more excited to try it out. Perhaps someday soon we can have a three-way shootout between the Cybertruck, this, and Rivian's R1T. For now, though, we'll just have to take the endurance at face value. Judging by the video, there is plenty to look forward to, and the new truck will offer at least one socket in the bed area to allow for the connection of power tools, as well as a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.
We still don't know exactly how much output the Endurance will offer, but estimates are in the region of 600 horsepower with a continuous torque output of around 2,000 lb-ft. Pricing for the all-electric truck is expected to be over $52,000, so it won't be cheap, but if the Endurance can prove to be reliable, comfortable, and capable, then it may well be worth its asking price. With GMC promising the electric Hummer and a new truck too, the competition is certainly hotting up. It's just a matter of time before these incredibly torquey new machines start taking over where heavy-duty trucks can't.
