Time and time again, we've seen the McLaren 720S put more powerful supercars to shame on the drag strip. But now the bar has been set even higher with the more track-focused McLaren 765LT hitting the drag strip to see what it can do.

With its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out 755 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, the 765LT has 45 more hp and 22 more lb-ft than its 720S sibling. It's also 176 pounds lighter than the 720S with a dry weight of 2,709 lbs, so how the new car performs in the quarter-mile has been something we've been looking forward to seeing for a while now. And the results are even more impressive than we expected.

Weather conditions were perfect for drag racing, giving the McLaren 765LT the best chance of setting blisteringly fast quarter-mile times. In the first run, the McLaren 765LT crossed the quarter-mile line in just 9.41 seconds at 150.03 mph. That's even faster than the Dodge Challenger SRT Challenger Demon, which Dodge famously claimed could complete the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph. DragTimes also claims this is faster than any Bugatti or Koenigsegg.

Even more impressively, this record was achieved while running on stock Pirelli Zero street tires. 0-62 mph also took just 2.1 seconds, which is mind-bogglingly quick for a stock car.

With these tires fitted, DragTimes encountered some wheelspin in second gear. To improve the grip, a set of Toyo R88R tires were fitted to see if the 765LT could do an even faster quarter-mile run. After a few runs on these grippier tires, the McLaren 765LT's fastest quarter-mile time was 9.33 seconds at 150.87 mph. For comparison, the YouTuber's best run in a McLaren 720S was 9.76 seconds at 144 mph. With some modifications, the 765LT should be capable of setting even faster times of around eight seconds.
