All will be revealed at Frankfurt this September.
The Bentley Continental GT is in dire need of an overhaul. Yes, the luxury grand tourer has received some updates in the past, but the overall styling and underlying platform has remained unchanged over the years. That will soon change this year with the launch of the new redesigned Continental GT at Frankfurt this September. Bentley has been paving the way for its arrival with the recent reveal of the Continental GT Timeless Series, which might as well be a send-off for the current model.
Ahead of its reveal, a prototype of the new Continental GT has been spotted carving up the Nurburgring in a video posted by Automotive Mike, looking surprisingly agile as it attacks the Green Hell's demanding corners. From the 2+2 seat layout, it's clear that the new Continental GT isn't a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept like some were expecting.
That said, the styling takes its cues from the concept car, so it should look stunning in production form. The redesigned Continental GT will ride on Volkswagen's MSB platform shared with the latest Porsche Panamera which should reduce a significant amount of weight thanks to its steel and aluminium construction, thus improving the handling. At launch, a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 and 6.0-liter biturbo W12 with at least 600-hp is expected to be available. Bentley is also planning to introduce a plug-in hybrid variant with four-wheel-drive at a later point. It will most likely use the same hybrid system as the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, which combines a 2.9-liter V6 gas engine with an electric motor to produce 462-hp.
