As Porsche's first EV, the Taycan has some lofty expectations to live up to. Luckily, it doesn't disappoint. Thanks to a dual-motor setup generating 750 hp, the range-topping Porsche Taycan Turbo S is phenomenally fast, exceeding all performance expectations. Not only does the Taycan accelerate like a Porsche, it drives like one too. This is easily the most driver-focused EV yet.

As we recently discovered, the Taycan Turbo S accelerates so fast it will hurt your face. But while we can attest to the acceleration, we unfortunately didn't have an unrestricted stretch of German autobahn to take the Taycan for a top speed run. Luckily, the guys at Autovision were able to do just that and recorded the run for our viewing pleasure.

As soon as the driver puts their foot down, the Taycan's astonishing acceleration is clear to see. During the run, blistering times were set, with 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) taking 2.7 seconds and 0-200 kph (0-150 mph) just 9.7 seconds. They also left the optional Electric Sport Sound on, which makes the Taycan sound otherworldly. Officially, Porsche claims the Taycan Turbo S will hit 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds. That's impressive, but we already know the Taycan can accelerate even faster than Porsche claims.

Car and Driver recently discovered it can do the 0-62 mph sprint in just 2.4 seconds - that's quicker than a Bugatti Veyron. Porsche's performance figures are notoriously conservative, so this isn't surprising. After testing the acceleration of the Taycan Turbo S on rural roads, it's then time for a top speed run on the Autobahn. On a clear stretch of road, the driver floors it and in no time at all the Taycan maxes out. The speedo reads 269 kph, but the GPS records 261 kph (162 mph).

Just don't expect the battery to last very long when pushing the Taycan Turbo S this hard. Disappointingly, the EPA claims the Taycan Turbo offers a driving range of 201 miles, which decreases to 192 miles in the Turbo S. However, Porsche told us the Taycan should exceed those estimates if you don't try maxing it out every day.
