With only five in existence (and each one worth at least $7.4 million) it's not every day that you get to see the delightful Pagani Huayra Codalunga out and about - let alone sliding about on an icy track. But that's exactly what happened at the ICE (International Concours of Elegance) St. Moritz 2023, with one example of the hypercar putting on an exceptional show for the crowds.

ICE St. Moritz gives owners a rare opportunity to showcase their rare automotive treasures in a unique setting, with an ice track available for those who want to flaunt their cars whilst on the move. This year was no different, and Pagani appears to have sent the Codalunga along to wow the crowds. We assume this is a manufacturer car as it is identical to the vehicle that we saw at the reveal, and can be seen wearing publicity plates.

For us mere mortals who can't afford to attend these illustrious events, we have to make do with video footage - but it doesn't disappoint. The glorious longtail has an incredible presence and looks the part on the icy track. The bellow of the 840-horsepower AMG V12 accompanies the dramatic footage as the driver cautiously traverses the slippery surface: this is one car you don't want to crash.

The semi-opaque paint looks exquisite in the Swiss sunshine and highlights the '60s-inspired shape of the car as it makes its way around the track. Note how the seven-spoke wheels mimic a turbine as the vehicle goes along.

There are some truly gorgeous cars that took part in the event. The Codalunga shares the track with the brand-new Maserati GranTurismo as well as the extraordinary Mercedes-Benz C111, an experimental supercar that never saw production.

At first, the driver takes a restrained approach and, frankly, we don't blame him. With that much power at your disposal, one mistake could send the 2,822-lb (dry weight) beauty sliding towards an untimely demise. However, as time goes on, the driver gets used to the slippery surface and a few slides take place.

In the video above, we get more action shots of the Codalunga but also get a close-up of the well-crafted cabin. Pagani elected to use aged leather for the interior and worked with various textures and designs. As a result, the cockpit boasts intertwined hide and suede which looks superb with all the high-end metalwork.

A heart-stopping moment sees the valuable hypercar nearly reverse into a pylon, which would have almost certainly caused drama back at the Pagani factory in San Cesario sul Panaro, Italy.

Unsurprisingly, all five examples are sold out. Company founder Horacio Pagani likens the car to a "tailor-made suit" which highlights just how bespoke and special it is. The idea reportedly came to life in 2018 when two cherished customers approached the automaker with an idea to build a longtail hypercar. Just one example is heading to the United States.

For those not lucky enough to score a Codalunga, Pagani also revealed the Huayra's replacement last year. The wonderfully named Utopia is perhaps not quite as dramatic looking as its ultra-limited sister, but it should still prove exciting thanks to the 852-hp V12 from which it gains motivation.

99 units will be produced (considerably more than the Codalunga) but, as fate would have it, each and every unit is spoken for. Sorry, rich people, you'll just have to enjoy it like the rest of us: through the wonders of video.
