Car commercials rarely get your pulse racing, often showing a car taking a leisurely cruise down picturesque mountain roads while a narrator explains the car's safety features. That's why Toyota's new ad campaign for the GR Supra is such a breath of fresh air.

Dubbed "The Pitch," the five-minute-long video makes fun of the advertising industry for being too conservative and concerned with safety. Put simply, this is easily one of the best and funniest car commercials we've seen in a while. The commercial starts with a pair of Supras drifting on the streets of Los Angeles at night before cutting to a board meeting.

In the meeting, a young creative team from Gazoo Racing pitch ideas to promote the GR Supra in an exciting way that resonates with enthusiasts, but the executives are worried about depicting dangerous driving in Toyota's commercials.

In one hilarious gag, the younger team wants to show the GR Supra performing a burnout, but the executives suggest showing it "without smoke and with VSC on so the car doesn't lose traction." In another gag, the GR Supra takes a wrong turn and ends up in the middle of a drift race with a group of Formula D racers.

Unimpressed, the executives change the scene so that it shows off the GR Supra's navigation to "make sure the driver takes the right turn" instead. The best stunt is saved for the end when the GR Supra performs a "2000s internet style" jump off a ramp into the sunset but the interfering executives insist that "all four tires need to maintain contact with the pavement at all times".

Starring in the commercial is the new 2022 Toyota GR Supra A91-CF Edition. Limited to just 600 examples in North America, the special-edition GR Supra features an assortment of carbon-fiber aero upgrades. Under the hood, the A91-CF Edition is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.
