The Porsche Cayenne is one of the German automaker's most popular models, having nearly doubled its sales figures this year. Not only is it luxurious, handling like a much smaller car, it's also a performance force to be reckoned with its range of V8 engines and you can even take them off-roading. We think it's one of the best cars out there, period. One thing you wouldn't consider a major selling point is the Cayenne's top speed: these SUVs are all about transporting the well to do in a refined manner, and going fast isn't really on the radar right? Wrong.

The following video shows what the Porsche Cayenne can do when let loose on the German highways. Sure, its a heavily modified version, but still, the results are astonishing.

The car in question is a Cayenne Turbo tuned by German performance shop Edeltuner HGP, and is considered one of the most powerful in the country. The tuner offers this '1000 PS' kit to both the SUV and coupe, and the end result is a power output of close to 1,000 hp. The standard Porsche Cayenne Turbo is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that produces a strong 541 hp and 568 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels and will hit sixty in only 3.7 seconds. The important figure here is its top speed of 177 mph when equipped with the Sport Chrono package.

We know that the car in the video has been heavily tuned, so those numbers are not applicable, but just how fast will this Cayenne go?

The video starts with a walk around of the car, which looks stock from the outside, but as soon as the driver touches the throttle, you can hear that this Cayenne has something special brewing under the hood. The driver then gets on to the Autobahn for some high-speed action. At around 40 mph, the Cayenne is floored, and the speed jumps up to over 100 mph in the blink of an eye.

As the needle climbs, the trees on the side of the road begin to blend into one uninterrupted streak of green. At close to 180 mph a few slight bends in the road cause the driver to let off the throttle, but he's soon back in it and pushes the car to its maximum. The car crosses the 185 mph mark and keeps on accelerating, eventually hitting a top speed of 206 mph on the GPS. This could just be the fastest Cayenne anywhere on Earth.
