The Porsche 911 R, GT3 and GT3 RS are all that'll soon be left of the naturally aspirated ass-engined German sports car. The 911 Carrera and Carrera S are now turbocharged and, very shortly, that same setup will strike the GTS. Thanks to our spy photographers, we now have our first images of the newly turbocharged 911 GTS Targa, caught testing at the Nurburgring. Look closely and you'll notice the blacked-out targa roll over bar that could become an option along with center-locking wheels.

That GT3-like front bumper is more than likely a part of the aero sport package. More importantly, however, the previous GTS's naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six is being swapped out in favor of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six. So it goes. The 991.2 GTS, like its predecessor, will once again be offered in two- and all-wheel drive versions. The Targa, coupe and convertible will all return as well. Our sources are also telling us the updated GTS will probably receive a slight power increase and will once again come with the Carrera 4 wide body and the Sport Chrono package and PASM active suspension. No official reveal date has been announced, but a very good guess is the Paris Motor Show this September.
