We'd Love the Mazda MX-5 to Be as Dramatic as This

The real deal should be with us by year's end.

The unveiling of the all-new Mazda MX-5 Miata is going to be one of the biggest events of 2015. Until then, all we have to keep ourselves occupied is the occasional set of spy shots and sleek renderings like this. Penned by Theophilus Chin, the dramatic interpretation is inspired by Mazda's Shinari and Takeri concepts, drawing on the carmaker's Kodo design language that dominates the marque's current lineup.

Mazda insists the next-gen Miata will return to its roots. Smaller and lighter, the model is expected to shed over 100 kg and gain more power, yet focus will be firmly fixed on improving handling and dynamics. Let's hope the design does the car's performance justice.
