The reborn Toyota Supra is one of our most anticipated new model debuts, but to say that the never-ending wait for its debut has been agonizing is an understatement. We were expecting the road-going Supra to break cover back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, but Toyota instead revealed the GR Racing Supra Concept.

A pre-production prototype was also showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but we've still yet to see the final production car in all its glory. There has been a lot of speculation about when Toyota will lift the wraps off the new Supra, but we now finally have official confirmation.

The SupraMKV forum has spotted a Tweet posted by Toyota's German account confirming that the reborn Supra will make its long-awaited world debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Furthermore, Toyota has also confirmed that orders for the Supra will begin today in Germany ahead of the car's public debut next January.

The Detroit reveal date doesn't come as a huge surprise as previous reports had already suggested this will be the venue where the reborn Japanese sports car will break cover. It's still a frustratingly long time to wait after seeing so many tantalizing teasers and spy shots, but at least we now have official confirmation from Toyota. Next year's Detroit Auto Show kicks off on January 14. Let the countdown begin.
