It's coming to battle the Mercedes-AMG A45 S
It's been just over a month since the all-new 2021 Audi A3 officially broke cover, which means the wait has begun for the hotter S3 and range-topping RS3 variants. So far, Audi has only shown off the Sportback version of the new A3, which won't be sold in America.
Instead, the US version will only get the sedan variant, just like the previous generation. Our spies recently spotted prototypes of the new Audi RS3 Sportback and Sedan being tested in the snow, which has enabled render artist X-Tomi Design to digitally remove the camouflage to show us what Audi's new Mercedes A45 S rival will look like.
For the 2021 model year, Audi updated the A3's styling by fitting a wider grille and digital daytime running lights featuring 15 LEDs. The 2021 Audi A3 is 1.2 inches longer and 4.7 feet higher than the outgoing model.
As shown in the render, we can expect the new RS3 to look more aggressive, with wider fenders, beefier brakes, side skirts, and larger air intakes integrated into the front bumper. The artist hasn't rendered the rear end, but the new Audi RS3 will be fitted with Audi Sport's signature oval exhaust tips. As for the interior, the new RS3 will get sporty bucket seats as well as some significant tech upgrades including the regular A3's 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touch screen.
Naturally, Audi's new range-topping RS3 will have more power than the regular A3. US powertrain options haven't been announced yet, but the European 2021 Audi A3 is offered with a 1.5-liter TFSI gasoline engine producing 150 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TDI diesel delivering up to 150 hp. The new Audi RS3 is expected to use an updated 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine, which should pack over 400 hp. No debut date has been announced yet, but the 2021 Audi RS3 could be unveiled later this year or sometime in 2021.
