It's not unusual to come across a Lamborghini Countach up for auction, but this 1981 model is quite special. Chassis number 1121316 was the first customer-delivered of the 82 Series III. In fact, it was only the third of its kind off the production line. This 1981 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S Series III has had three previous owners and was even ordered with that unique color combo of Verde Metallizzato over Khaki leather interior. There's even green carpeting.

Its first owner was a Saudi oil sheikh who never even bothered to register the car. He just liked to look at it. It finally made its way to the US where its third and current owner resides, a well-known Lamborghini collector. He's obviously well-connected enough to retain the services of none other than famed Lamborghini test driver, Valentino Balboni, who inspected the car and whose report remains on file. And, for reasons we can't understand, its owner wants to part with it. Whoever ends up buying it ought to know that it's recently been restored to full 1981 spec by ex-Lamborghini factory artisans in the Sant'Agata area of Italy. The wheels, Vitaloni stickers, and door mirrors are all period correct.

Complete documentation of this restoration is also on file. Mileage? Only 3,748. Bottom line: blessed by Balboni, restored by its original creators, V12 engine-five-speed manual combo, and it's green. Look for it at the Sotheby's Driven by Disruption RM Auction this December in New York. Photos courtesy of RM Auctions.
