We Now Know When BMW Will Unveil The Next-Generation 5 Series

Rumor

The 2017 G30 5 Series will be here soon.

BMW Blog has just learned that the 2017 G30 5 Series will have its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Some rumors indicated that BMW would reveal the 5 Series in Paris, but BMW has announced that it will reveal the X2 there. We can only go off what we have seen in spy photos, but the new 5 Series probably won't be a drastic change over the previous generation (think B9 Audi A4). The G30 will be lighter than the current F10 generation thanks to the use of carbon in the body structure as well as lightweight aluminum.

The next generation M5 is still pretty far away, although rumors have been tossed around about optional AWD and a possible 600 horsepower engine. The new 5 Series should be a technical improvement over the current model, but for now, we think that the Mercedes E-Class is the better car.
