The Ford Focus ST can be classified as one of those rare, multi-purpose gearhead cars. The reasons should be obvious. It's a five-door hatchback, making it an ideal family car. It's got a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 252 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. It drives well, handles well, and looks pretty darn good. And yes, it's got a six-speed manual. Like the VW Golf GTI, the Focus ST represents the complete package for many people.

It's a great compromise for young gearhead parents, or really anyone else who desires performance and utility for a reasonable price.
