We honestly couldn't be more excited for this comparison because we've waited long enough for it to happen. And thanks to Motor Trend, it has. The guys over there have pitted a Volkswagen Golf R against a Ford Focus RS, two (and so far only) all-wheel drive hot hatches on the market. Remember, Subaru doesn't have the WRX STI hatch anymore, which is a shame. OK, yes, there's also the Audi S3 but it's only sold as a sedan in the US, which leaves us with the VW and Ford.

Our own recent review of the Focus RS made it clear to us that Ford hit a home run here, partially thanks to the 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four with 350 hp. For its part, the Golf R is powered by the same 2.0-liter turbo four found in the GTI, which delivers 292 ponies. So, which is the best AWD hot hatch? Take a break from your day and watch this video.
