Pondering the future of car design is something all aspiring young automotive design students are consumed with 24/7. So who better to envisage what a Ferrari might look like in 2040 than design schools? Around 50 schools entered the Ferrari Top Design School Challenge and these were then whittled down to four spread across three continents. Students of Hochschule Pforzheim (Germany), the College for Creative Studies in Detroit (US), Hongik University in Seoul (Korea), and the ISD-Rubika in Valenciennes (France) began work on their 12 models (3 from each school) in October last year.

Their Ferraris of the future are now in Maranello for consideration. The overall "Gran Premio" will be awarded by an esteemed jury including the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and Paolo Pininfarina. However, the "Premio Speciale" is awarded by open online vote via this dedicated Facebook page. Here's a selection of the spectacular designs you can choose from, with the winners to be announced January 15.
