"It's not just about luxury execution and cosmetics, it's about performance as well."
Afterunleashing the insane Range Rover Sport SVR, JLR'sSpecial Vehicle Operations still has more tricks up its sleeve, it seems. Last week, wetold you about plans to create a Land Rover SVX – a mysterious hardcoreoff-road monster. Now, the company promises to offer SVR versions on manyadditional models: "We started with this [Range Rover Sport SVR]", designdirector Gerry McGovern told Motoring. "But it'll work right through theRange Rover range, and through Discoverys and eventually Defenders."
According to Motoring, a hardcore performance version of the Evoque, whichreceived a midlife refresh at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, could be right aroundthe corner. But with competitors like the Porsche and the Mercedes GLA already presentinguprated performance-oriented versions of their own SUVs, the Evoque SVR shouldbe well under development. Despite being stingy with the details, McGovernpromised that this car, like anything from SVR, will come packing a lot ofpower. Don't expect anything as mighty as the Range Rover SVR's 542 horsepower, but JLR certainly has an arsenal of engines that could make little Evoque intoa powerful contender in this war.
