"It's not just about luxury execution and cosmetics, it's about performance as well."
After unleashing the insane Range Rover Sport SVR, JLR's Special Vehicle Operations still has more tricks up its sleeve, it seems. Last week, we told you about plans to create a Land Rover SVX – a mysterious hardcore off-road monster. Now, the company promises to offer SVR versions on many additional models: "We started with this [Range Rover Sport SVR]", design director Gerry McGovern told Motoring. "But it'll work right through the Range Rover range, and through Discoverys and eventually Defenders."
According to Motoring, a hardcore performance version of the Evoque, which received a midlife refresh at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, could be right around the corner. But with competitors like the Porsche and the Mercedes GLA already presenting uprated performance-oriented versions of their own SUVs, the Evoque SVR should be well under development. Despite being stingy with the details, McGovern promised that this car, like anything from SVR, will come packing a lot of power. Don't expect anything as mighty as the Range Rover SVR's 542 horsepower, but JLR certainly has an arsenal of engines that could make little Evoque into a powerful contender in this war.
