This is a terrible investment.
There's been a massive increase in supercar crashes recently, which has also increased the amount of damaged supercars in the market. We recently brought you a story about a wrecked Lamborghini Aventador that sold for $100K and while that was a horrendous deal, this heavily-damaged Ferrari 458 Speciale is an even worse deal at $69,000. The hardcore Ferrari is missing its entire front end and is barely recognizable from the front. At least the wrecked Aventador could be recognized and had a chance of a second life.
The 458 Speciale is a track-focused supercar that features a 4.5-liter V8 that's good for 597 hp and could make the sprint to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds. A brand new model in mint condition cost wealthy enthusiasts roughly $240K. This bargain supercar was involved in an accident in Johannesburg, South Africa, a few months ago with the driver losing control of the vehicle and hitting a wall. While no one was injured in the accident, the supercar lost its entire front end, has a broken windshield, is missing the driver's side door and has an engine that doesn't run. The 458 Speciale is on sale in a timed auction until December 10 with a starting bid of approximately $69,600.
