After showing us the speed-demon 2019 F-Pace SVR at the New York Auto Show, Jaguar is now teasing us with a video of all the lovely growly noises it makes to make us further lust for this hotted-up crossover. It's not groundbreaking storytelling in any way, but Jaguar offers us up a pair of his and hers F-Pace SVRs on a lonely volcanic island with just a sinuous road snaking along its belly and lava erupting on its coastline. And Godzilla's eye for one brief moment.

Why there's a road on this island and two 550 horsepower crossovers may be a gap in the plot, but it sure sets up some delightful visuals to accompany the fierce, stuttering howl of Jag's supercharged 5.0-liter V8.

Jaguar is the reigning champ when it comes to ridiculous exhaust notes these days, so if you want your 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds with apocalyptic barking and howling and a side of cargo space with seating for four, this is definitely one way to go. A few others are a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV and probably some others I've forgotten about. Damn, this segment is getting crowded. The video also gives us a visual taste of its dynamics, showing off what will surely be thrilling dynamics if the the standard F-Pace and sporty F-Types are any indication.

For the F-Pace SVR, Jaguar beefed up suspension, 30 percent stiffer in front and 10 percent stiffer out back, tweaked the electronic brains for the adaptive suspension and transmission, offers 21 or 22-inch wheels, and drops in an active rear differential that can shunt torque to either side for all the handling tricks in their bag. At $79,990 for the F-Pace SVR in the US, you will start seeing quite a few of these on the roads this summer, as the F-Pace continues to sell at a steady clip even now that the honeymoon is over.
